Artificial Intelligence Enhances Imagine RIT Experience

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is set to transform the experience for visitors attending this year’s Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival on April 26. Amidst over 430 exhibits, festivalgoers will have access to Imagine RIT Bot, a generative AI chatbot designed to guide them through the festival’s myriad of offerings. This innovative tool, similar to ChatGPT but tailored to Imagine RIT, can suggest routes and exhibits that match specific visitor preferences.

AI-Powered Assistance

The Imagine RIT Bot is part of the RIT AI Hub Showcase, featuring groundbreaking AI technologies developed by the RIT community. The bot represents AI’s potential to streamline navigation and enhance visitor experience by recommending activities, such as finding interactive exhibits or entertainment performances.

The initiative, according to Christopher Collison, Director of RIT’s AI Hub, underscores the institute’s commitment to using AI responsibly. Collison emphasizes AI’s transformative power and the importance of creating technology that frees people to focus on their passions.

Educational Innovation: Hey Tutor Bot

Another highlight of the AI Hub Showcase is Tutor Bot, an AI-driven educational tool that delivers learning experiences more personalized than traditional platforms like ChatGPT. Integrating insights from RIT faculty, Tutor Bot aims to deepen foundational knowledge for a wide audience, ranging from elementary students to those in higher education.

The AI Hub envisions expanding Tutor Bot’s usage across campus, signifying a step towards integrating ethical AI into educational frameworks. Students at Imagine RIT can engage in diverse learning subjects, from science to skills relevant to popular video games.

Dreamcatcher: A Dream-Based Social Media Platform

Two innovative RIT students are introducing Dreamcatcher, a dream-focused social media app, as a product of creative technological engagement. Designed by computer science major Jonah Witte and motion picture science major Gabriel Casselman, Dreamcatcher allows users to document, share, and explore dream content in a community setting.

By employing AI, the app analyzes dream patterns using a Google embedding model, enabling users to find thematic connections among their social circles. The students see this as an opportunity to tap into a unique niche, combining social interaction with psychological insights into dreaming.

Engage with AI at Imagine RIT

The breadth of AI tools extends into other domains, with projects like the advisor bot for course scheduling and a research concierge bot for facilitating academic collaborations. This variety illustrates RIT’s dedication to making AI accessible and practical beyond commercial confines.

At Imagine RIT, public participation is encouraged, reflecting RIT’s vision of democratizing AI technology. Attendees are invited to engage with exhibits from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival is free, welcoming all to explore the innovations and creative ventures spearheaded by RIT’s community.

Imagine RIT merges creativity and tech innovation, offering a glimpse into the partnerships and discoveries fueled by AI.
