Bitcoin Virtual Machine (BVM), a layer 2 project built on Bitcoin, is set to unveil a groundbreaking platform allowing users to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) models, developer punk3700 revealed to CoinDesk in a message on Tuesday. This innovative feature, dubbed Truly Open AI, will enable users to host AI models on the blockchain for utilization in various crypto applications. AI models, essentially algorithms based on specific datasets to facilitate decision-making, will now be deployable on-chain.
Lead developer punk3700 emphasized the significance of this development, stating, “We’ve figured out a way to put AI on-chain.” He highlighted the transformative impact, contrasting it with the trend of putting images (jpegs) on-chain.
“They are neural networks (technical terms for AI) where users can create their own AI models, monetize them (through usage fees), or sell the entire models,” he elaborated.
Storage layers for these AI models will be provided by platforms such as Filecoin, Near, Avail, Polygon, and Syscoin.

The integration of AI into the blockchain space remains a highly anticipated development among crypto enthusiasts, as AI technology is poised to drive significant innovations in the global economy in the foreseeable future.
Nevertheless, there are skeptics in the market who doubt the feasibility of running artificial intelligence on a blockchain, despite claims made by numerous projects.
