Helios Capital founder Samir Arora replied to a user on X (previously known as Twitter) said Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai should ’be fired or resign.”
Google’s parent company Alphabet’s CEO Sundar Pichai could be fired from the post or may resign from the post soon amidst the Gemini failure. This is according to Helios Capital founder Samir Arora.
This came forward when the founder was replying to a user on X, who asked Samir Arora’s opinion on the surrounding controversies regarding Google’s worldwide release of an AI chatbot Gemini. The former market veteran replied: “My guess is he will be fired or resign- as he should. After being in the lead on AI he has completely failed on this and let others take over.”
About Gemini AI
Google recently rebranded its chatbot Bard as Gemini, this was the official unrolling of the artificial intelligence (AI) tool for users. According to the tech giant, users can now engage with the Gemini Pro 1.0 model in over 40 languages across more than 230 countries and territories.
Gemini Advanced is a part of the Google One AI Premium Plan, the plan price is $19.99/month, starting with a two-month trial period. The users who have purchased this plan can use Gemini in various Google applications like Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and more. This is according to Google’s blog post.
What is the Controversy About?
Within a week the AI chatbot is surrounded with controversies. Google apologized on February 23 for its faulty rollout of a new AI-based image-generator that was linked to Gemini AI, acknowledging that in some cases the app tool would “Overcompensate” for lack of diversity even when it didn’t make sense, as per an AP report.
Google immediately addressed the controversy by stating that they are dedicated to temporarily hauling this feature of the chatbot. Prabhakar Raghavan, a senior vice president overseeing Google’s search engine and other businesses in a blog post stated, “It’s clear that this feature missed the mark”, apologized for inaccurate and offensive images, and expressed gratitude for user feedback.
Raghavan did not cite any kind of example, but users highlighted the instances when the Gemini AI image generator depicted Black women as America’s founding fathers and also showed Black and Asian individuals as Nazi-German soldiers, AP reported.
Senior Vice President defended the chatbot’s intent by stating that the goal for the feature was to respond to diverse requests, but added that some prompts triggered “overcompensation”.
India Can Issue Notice to Google for “Biased” Gemini AI
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) can issue a notice to Google over Gemini’s “biased” response to a question about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reports said on February 23.
Gemini once again came under question when it was “biased” against PM Modi after an X user took to social media to complain about the flaws of the tool. The viral post claimed that the AI model’s “bias” to a query on PM Modi, former US president Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
It further claimed that the chatbot gave a proper reply on PM Modi when the user asked about fascism. But when the same question was asked about former US president Donald Trump and Zelenskyy, the AI tool refused to give any answer.
As the video went viral, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekar reacted to the complaint of the user by the X user and said that it violates IT rules and other laws. “These are direct violations of Rule 3(1)(b) of Intermediary Rules (IT rules) of the IT act and violations of several provisions of the criminal code,” Chandrashekar said this by tagging Google and the Meity, indicating further action in the coming time.
