According to Jensen Huang, people should not learn coding as by using AI anyone can become a coder.
As soon as AI was introduced to common people by OpenAI in November 2022. People were astonished by its capabilities. People found this as a new curiosity and started experimenting with the chatbot to explore more capabilities of this technology. They were curious to explore what else this chatbot could do. After ChatGPT was launched it made generative AI more popular among the masses. Due to this big tech giants like Google and Microsoft had to launch their own chatbots in the industry to survive.
After this revolutionary launch of AI to the masses many popular figures from the tech industry are supporting the capabilities of AI and are also predicting the future of the tech industry. People like Bill Gates, Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai, and Sam Altman are weighted on AI’s impact on various industries and the job market related to that industry without talking more about its significance. There are mixed speculations about the future of AI as according to some there will be more amount of job losses in the IT sector and some speculate that it will create more opportunities.
Similarly, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has also shared his thoughts regarding the impact of AI on the job market. Recently, a video of him went viral on the internet where he is seen saying that AI will impact the Job market of the IT sector. According to him, kids should not learn coding as AI is evolving and through AI anybody can be a programmer. The video was taken at an event. According to him, a decade ago people were saying that everybody needed to learn coding. But now, things have changed as with AI everybody is a programmer.
In the video, he quoted saying “Over the last 10-15 years, almost everybody who sits on a stage like this would tell you that it is vital that your children learn computer science, everybody should learn how to program. In fact, it is almost exactly the opposite. It is our job to create computing technology such that nobody has to program, and that the programming language is human. Everybody in the world is now a programmer. This is the miracle of AI. You now have a computer that will do what you tell it to do. It is vital that we upskill everyone and the upskill process will be delightful and surprising.”
Another prominent figure from the tech industry agrees with Jensen. John Carmack former CTO, Oculus VR and the founder of Id Software and Armadillo Aerospace. He says “Coding was never the source of value, and people shouldn’t get overly attached to it. Problem-solving is the core skill. The discipline and precision demanded by traditional programming will remain valuable transferable attributes, but they won’t be a barrier to entry,” he said in a post quoting Huang’s video. “I suspect that I will enjoy managing AIs more, even if they wind up being better programmers than I am,”
Similar types of statements have previously come forward by the Nvidia CEO. Nvidia being one of the largest chipmakers in the world has played a crucial role in the development of ChatGPT by supplying thousands of Nvidia GPUs.
Previously, Huang said “The programming barrier is incredibly low. We have closed the digital divide. Everyone is a programmer now-you just have to say something to the computer.”
Huang had predicted that AI would slowly enter every industry which has started to become true as AI has started spreading in different industries and has become a significant transformation in the technology field.
