In a groundbreaking move, Zoom has unveiled its latest innovation, the Zoom Workplace for Frontline, designed to significantly enhance communication and efficiency among frontline workers in healthcare and other industries. The application incorporates agentic artificial intelligence, offering real-time and auto-generated features to improve on-shift communication and work management.
Released on Wednesday, this tool is now accessible to all customers. It aims to foster productivity, collaboration, and connection with its cutting-edge real-time activity feed and auto-created on-shift chat groups. A standout feature is its push-to-talk functionality, specifically designed to support frontline teams across various sectors.

As explained by Ritu Mukherjee, Zoom’s head of product, business acceleration, and readiness, the strategic deployment of AI-driven solutions is geared towards enhancing collaborative communication during shifts. Mukherjee presented these insights during the HIMSS25 global conference and exhibition in March. The mobile application caters to healthcare workers by optimizing shift-based operations with tools for managers to facilitate shift swapping and task management, including shift summaries. “It’s going to be focused on your shifts, and your schedules and how to get work done within a shift,” Mukherjee stated when speaking to Healthcare IT News.
While many health systems and hospitals rely on existing workforce management software, Zoom Workplace for Frontline complements these by providing an intuitive platform for frontline workers and managers to connect during shifts, streamlining staffing decisions and enhancing scheduling accuracy. Mukherjee highlights, “It automatically creates a team chat group for you so that you can communicate collaboratively within your shift.” Moreover, the app’s AI-based summaries aid managers in assessing completed tasks before each shift begins.

Earlier this year, Zoom further demonstrated its commitment to integrating advanced AI technologies by incorporating AI developer Suki into its portfolio of investments. This move is part of a broader effort to weave more AI capabilities into its clinical workflow platform. Initially, Zoom had used Suki’s generative AI platform to enable seamless clinical note generation for approximately 140,000 healthcare organization customers via its telehealth video communications platform.
Punit Soni, CEO of Suki, remarked on the collaboration, “Video will be a critical interface in the AI-driven world.” This partnership emphasizes Zoom’s dedication to innovating healthcare technology to support clinicians in focusing on patient care.
During the HIMSS25 event, Zoom launched a public beta of ambient notes capabilities within its Workplace for Clinicians product, marking a strategic step towards achieving agentic AI across its product lines. According to Mukherjee, the introduction of these tools signifies the beginning of a journey towards fully automating the clinical workflow, with features such as instant electronic health record updates at the click of a button.
