Elon Musk Shocked By Gemini AI’s Answer on Misgendering Caitlyn Jenner: ‘AI mirrors Mistakes of its Creators’

ELON MUSK

Elon Musk has launched a fresh critique against Google concerning the response of the company’s Gemini AI chatbot to a question about misgendering Caitlyn Jenner to avert a nuclear apocalypse. Musk, while taking a dig at Google, expressed astonishment at Gemini AI’s irrationality and asserted that AI reflects the errors of its creators.

In a post on X (previously known as Twitter), Musk criticized Google, stating, “The sheer irrationality of the actual response from Google’s AI is astounding! They may adjust it to be less overt in the future, but the bias will persist. AI mirrors the mistakes of its creators. This example clearly illustrates the potential pitfalls of AI controlling the world. The optimal approach to AI safety, in my view, is to prioritize maximal truth-seeking. Honesty is the most effective strategy.”

Musk responded to an X handle called The Rabbit Hole, which shared a screenshot of asking Gemini about misgendering Caitlyn Jenner. In the screenshot, a user queries Gemini about justifying misgendering Caitlyn Jenner to prevent a nuclear apocalypse, and the chatbot responds, “No, one should not misgender Caitlyn Jenner to prevent a nuclear apocalypse.”
