The global workforce in artificial intelligence is comprised of only 22% women.133 AI systems from various businesses were analysed globally, and 44.2% of them showed gender prejudice. In the course of their employment, 73% of female journalists from 125 countries reported having experienced cyberbullying.
Challenges and Opportunities
Women have historically encountered a number of obstacles in the IT sector, such as the threat of gender-based violence on the internet and their underrepresentation in STEM fields of study and employment.
Notwithstanding these obstacles, gender-responsive digital learning and tech-enabled healthcare offer chances for women’s worldwide empowerment through digital technology.
Call to Action
In order to keep the digital world safer, more inclusive, and more egalitarian, governments, activists, and the commercial sector were urged to participate in the IWD 2023 celebration.
IWD 2024’s theme, “#InspireInclusion,” emphasizes how crucial it is to accept Gen AI as a tool for growth and innovation, especially when it comes to promoting gender inclusion and diversity.
In conclusion, IWD emphasizes the importance of addressing gender disparities in technology and harnessing the potential of Gen AI to create a more inclusive and equitable digital future for women and all humanity.
